Oh, the Stories We Tell

Ugh! Our Stories! It’s amazing the stories we tell ourselves. And we BELIEVE them! We actually live our lives through them. We cling to them with fervor, but yet, these stories are usually pretty awful. These stories create our pain. We have completely made them up in our heads, but we make them real. We believe them and the body reacts with emotions. We then find ourselves in a negativity swirl that is difficult to pull out of. The more we believe them to be true, the more we create results that support the story, which then proves us right, so we believe even more. What a shitty setup!

If we notice when we get triggered in our day to day lives we can trace that trigger to a story we tell ourselves.

Do any of these story lines sounds familiar?

  • I’m not good enough
  • Nobody loves me
  • I’m completely alone
  • No one understands
  • People always let me down

These are some very common storylines. As long as we believe these lies we will continue to craft our lives around them….and continue suffering from them.

Now is a great time to start letting go of old, bullshit stories and start telling ourselves some empowering ones! Imagine what your life would be in a year if “I have the power and ability to accomplish anything I want to” was your new story. Could you allow yourself to try on “I am my own best friend” for size? How much kinder this world would be if you adopted “I am a being of pure love. I come from love, I return to love, I am love.”

Rewriting the stories that we shape our lives around is a powerful way to change our life experience. We can totally switch up our landscape by feeding ourselves with positive, loving, and supportive stories. A shift in belief and mindset can facilitate a massive movement. Transformation can be only a different story away!
